Hello and welcome to Nowcasting, your new resource to stay up to date on all things Rainmaker.

Why Nowcasting? During a Rainmaker cloud seeding operation, our meteorologists deliver critically important reports of real time weather conditions that inform how and where we seed, called “nowcasting.” In the same spirit, this newsletter will deliver rich, relevant updates on our operations, recent headlines, beautiful content, upcoming events, and other stories from the Rainmaker universe.

NOWCASTING

Last month, Rainmaker kicked off the largest cloud seeding operation in modern American history in the Bear River Basin of Utah and Idaho, with the ultimate goal of refilling the Great Salt Lake.

We’ve made incredible progress transitioning from rigorous flight testing to the full and sustained deployment of our systems and operators throughout the Bear River Basin. Many thanks to those who joined us in Salt Lake City as we celebrated this historic milestone.

Already this season we’ve completed over 400 flights with 158 total flight hours across the entire Bear River Basin. We also manufactured over 100 Elijah V2 drones in Q4 and launched the newest iteration of the Stratus Mission Command platform.

With each flight we learn and gather valuable information, and to date we’ve generated nearly 500GB of data in harsh atmospheric conditions, allowing us to continuously improve our operations each day. This is what we call “contacting reality,” a central pillar of the Rainmaker ethos.

We also continue to gather radar and satellite data to track exactly how much water we are creating for the people of Utah and Idaho over the course of the season. Together, these accomplishments represent an unprecedented step forward for cloud seeding, and major progress towards our core mission: bringing water where it’s needed most.

We have prepared a short video update for you to enjoy. Please feel free to share with any colleagues or friends who might be interested.
